Sanjay Raut Claims MPs Offered Rs 50 Crore to Switch Allegiance Amid Shiv Sena Turmoil

In a fresh twist to the ongoing turmoil within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), party leader Sanjay Raut has made explosive allegations that several of his party’s Members of Parliament (MPs) are being lured with offers of up to Rs 50 crore to defect to the opposing faction led by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Initially, Raut dismissed any notion of a rift within the party as mere speculation, asserting that party MPs had recently reaffirmed their loyalty to Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership. However, he later took to social media to express concerns over what he termed attempts to entice party members to cross the floor. According to Raut, the inducements reportedly include an “advance” payment of Rs 15 crore to those who would consider switching allegiances.

In an effort to safeguard the integrity of the party, Uddhav Sena MP Arvind Sawant has also taken action by addressing a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. In this communication, Sawant urged Birla to dismiss any requests for the recognition of a splinter group or any merger involving MPs elected under the Shiv Sena banner. This move reflects the ongoing internal conflicts within the party, as it faces challenges not just from within but also from rival political factions.

This clash of loyalties comes at a time when the political landscape in Maharashtra remains precarious, with numerous parties vying for influence and power. The Shinde faction, which emerged after a split in the Shiv Sena, has been striving to consolidate its position, further complicating the already tense dynamics within the party.

The allegations raised by Raut underscore the high-stakes game of politics that often plays out in the backdrop of Maharashtra’s governance. It highlights the lengths to which rival factions may go to secure loyalty and support, particularly in a state where political alliances can shift rapidly. As the situation evolves, the implications for Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership and the future of the Shiv Sena could be significant.
