Trump Proposes 15-Point Peace Plan as Israel Strikes Tehran in Major Escalation

TEHRAN/WASHINGTON – The Middle East sits at a volatile crossroads today as Israeli forces launched a massive wave of airstrikes against the Iranian capital, even as U.S. President Donald Trump claimed “major progress” on a 15-point peace proposal to end the month-long war.
A Morning of Fire-
Early Wednesday morning, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed strikes on infrastructure across Tehran. While Israel described the targets as “terror infrastructure,” Iranian media reported hits in residential areas. In a swift counter-response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) launched precision-guided missiles at Tel Aviv and U.S. military installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
The Diplomatic “Present”-
Speaking from the White House, President Trump voiced optimism, stating that the U.S. is in active negotiations with “the right people” in Iran. The reported 15-point plan, delivered via Pakistan, calls for a one-month ceasefire and the total surrender of Iran’s enriched uranium.Trump hinted at a major concession from Tehran, calling it a “very big present” worth a “tremendous amount of money”—likely referring to a breakthrough in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has dismissed these claims as “fake news” intended to manipulate global markets.
*Global Consequences*-
The war, which began on February 28 with the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has already killed thousands and triggered the worst energy shock in history. While oil prices dipped 6% today on the hope of a ceasefire, the World Trade Organization (WTO) warned that a continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—which carries 33% of the world’s fertilizer—could trigger a global food crisis by the end of the year.As the UN nuclear watchdog (IAEA) calls for “maximum restraint” following a missile strike near the Bushehr nuclear plant, the world remains on edge, waiting to see if the proposed “30-day pause” will hold or if the region will slide further into total war.
