New Delhi, June 10, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the Land Port Management System (LPMS), a digital platform named “Vinimay” aimed at enhancing the management of India’s land ports through technology-driven solutions. The initiative is intended to improve border security, facilitate trade, and streamline passenger movement across international land borders.

The LPMS introduces a unified digital platform designed to integrate cargo processing, passenger management, vehicle movement, payments, slot booking, tracking services, and single-window clearances. The system seeks to improve coordination among customs authorities, immigration officials, border security agencies, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the launch event, Amit Shah described the platform as an important step toward developing technology-enabled border infrastructure that supports both national security and economic activity. He noted that land ports have become key gateways for trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation.

According to official statements, the LPMS is expected to reduce paperwork, improve operational efficiency, and shorten processing times at border checkpoints. The platform has reportedly been integrated with systems such as ICEGATE, ULIP, and other digital infrastructure to facilitate information sharing and transparency.

India currently operates 15 land ports under the management of the Land Ports Authority of India across borders with Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Pakistan. The government has also announced plans to expand land port infrastructure in the coming years.

Experts say the LPMS could contribute to the modernization of border management by improving efficiency, transparency, and coordination among agencies involved in cross-border trade and travel.
