The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Anand Jain, a 1999-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Anand Jain has served in several key positions during his career, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Baramulla and Jammu. He has also held responsibilities as head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Jammu Zone.
During his service, he has been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
He succeeds the arrangement under which K.K. Sharma was holding the charge of DGP for Ladakh.
Officials said the appointment comes at an important time for the strategically significant Union Territory. The new DGP is expected to oversee policing, security coordination, and public safety initiatives across the region.
The appointment has been notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs and takes immediate effect as per the official order.
