Bengaluru, June 22 (IPU Media Update News): Kannada actor and social activist Chetan Ahimsa has announced plans to launch a new political party ahead of the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections. While the party’s official name has not yet been revealed, Chetan stated that the new political platform aims to offer an alternative to existing political parties in the state.
According to Chetan, the party intends to field candidates in all 224 Assembly constituencies across Karnataka. He said that the development of North Karnataka, which he described as a long-neglected region, would be one of the key priorities of the proposed party.
Addressing supporters, Chetan alleged that the state’s major political parties have failed to adequately address public concerns and emphasized the need for a transparent and people-centric political alternative.
“We are building a new political platform for the 2028 Karnataka elections. We aim to field candidates across the state who will work in the interests of the people,” he said.
Chetan Ahimsa is known for his roles in Kannada films such as Aa Dinagalu and Myna. In recent years, he has been actively involved in social causes related to social justice, constitutional rights, freedom of expression, and issues concerning marginalized communities.
His entry into active politics is expected to attract attention in Karnataka’s political landscape as preparations gradually begin for the 2028 Assembly elections.
