Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Faces Investigations Following Two Patient Death Cases
Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital is facing regulatory scrutiny following two separate patient death cases that have drawn public attention in Pune.
In one incident, a six-year-old girl, Priyanshi Bagde, reportedly died during a squint eye surgery procedure. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, and further medical inquiry is expected.
In another case, a Pune court reportedly issued summons to several trustees of the hospital after the death of a pregnant woman, Tanisha Bhise. According to allegations made by the patient’s family, admission was delayed due to issues related to an upfront financial deposit. The hospital administration has denied wrongdoing and stated that the patient was monitored and that the family later chose to leave against medical advice.
Reports also indicate that the Charity Commissioner conducted an inquiry into the matter and imposed a financial penalty on the hospital over alleged violations related to emergency care procedures under the Bombay Public Trust Act.
The incidents have triggered protests and demands from local residents and activists seeking transparency and accountability. Authorities are continuing their investigations, while the hospital administration has stated that it is cooperating with the ongoing legal and regulatory processes.
