Extends Deadline For Free Online Aadhaar Card Updates

New Delhi, May 25, IPU Media Update News : The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has delivered excellent news to Aadhaar cardholders. It has taken a pivotal decision to extend the deadline for updating Aadhaar details online free of cost by a full additional year. This concession was granted in light of the overwhelming response received from citizens, as the original deadline was set to expire on June 14, 2026. According to the latest directives, citizens can now update their details free of charge without paying any fees via the ‘myAadhaar’ portal until June 14, 2027.

As per the official memorandum issued by UIDAI, this free update facility has been extended for another year. This means that the document update facility on the ‘myAadhaar’ portal will continue to be completely free of cost from June 15, 2026, through June 14, 2027.

★ Farewell to the Old Aadhaar App! New Aadhaar App Now Available :

In addition to extending the deadline for document updates, UIDAI has also implemented a significant change regarding its mobile app services. The authority announced via the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) that the older ‘mAadhaar’ app will soon be completely discontinued.

To replace it, UIDAI has launched a brand-new ‘Aadhaar app’ for users, featuring state-of-the-art technology and enhanced features. Through this new app, travelers and the general public can very easily access secure QR code-based Aadhaar sharing, granular privacy controls, and other Aadhaar-related services.

According to statistics released by the Union Ministry of IT, this new Aadhaar app is receiving an overwhelming response from users. Within a short span of just three months, the app has been downloaded by 21 million (2.1 crore) people. To date, nearly 2.8 million (28 lakh) users have successfully linked or updated their mobile numbers using this app. Additionally, approximately 600,000 (6 lakh) users have updated their residential addresses with the help of this application. This new official app is currently available for download on both Google Android and Apple iOS platforms.
