Barmer, May 19: Rising temperatures in Rajasthan’s Barmer district have created difficult working conditions for outdoor laborers engaged at the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) project site in Pachpadra. With temperatures reportedly touching around 48°C in recent days, workers involved in construction and industrial operations are continuing their duties amid intense summer heat.
The refinery project, considered one of the major industrial developments in the region, employs a large number of contract laborers and construction workers. Due to ongoing project activities and work schedules, outdoor operations are continuing despite the extreme weather conditions.
Workers at the site are exposed to high temperatures, hot desert winds and heat generated from machinery and construction structures. The situation has drawn attention to the challenges faced by laborers working in outdoor industrial environments during peak summer months.
Experts and labour welfare advocates have often emphasized the importance of adequate hydration, shaded rest areas, medical support and heat-safety measures for workers engaged in physically demanding outdoor work during heatwave conditions.
Rajasthan has been witnessing severe summer temperatures in several districts, prompting health advisories from authorities regarding heat-related risks and precautions.
