First Time Names Revealed: Six Brave Soldiers Killed in Operation Sindoor Honored

In a significant and emotional update, the names of six military personnel who lost their lives during Operation Sindoor have been publicly disclosed for the first time. On Friday, the National War Memorial website unveiled these names as part of its Roll of Honour section, marking a poignant moment in the nation’s acknowledgment of their sacrifice. This disclosure not only honors the bravery of these individuals but also highlights the ongoing sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in protecting the country.

The courageous souls include five members of the Indian Army: Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Murali Naik, and Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, along with an Air Force Sergeant, Surendra Kumar. Their names, now forever etched in the annals of our military history, serve as a reminder of the valor displayed during one of the crucial operations undertaken by India in recent times.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack that tragically claimed the lives of 26 individuals on April 22, 2025. The intent behind the operation was to target terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The military’s decisive action was framed as a necessary step to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing cross-border terrorism.

Following the operation, both India and Pakistan reached an understanding to halt firing on May 10, 2025, reflecting a moment of cautious diplomacy amid an ongoing volatile situation. The revelation of the names of the fallen personnel coincided with a broader commemoration of all soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in various military operations throughout the year, solidifying their legacy in the Tyag Chakra, also known as the Circle of Sacrifice, at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

The Tyag Chakra is a hallowed space that honors the courageous men and women of the Indian Armed Forces who have laid down their lives since India’s independence. With the inclusion of these six names, the memorial serves not only as a tribute but also as a source of inspiration for future generations to uphold the ideals of bravery and selflessness. The collective memory of these heroes will continue to resonate with the people of India, forever reminding us of their unwavering commitment to our nation.
