Alert citizens, safe nation. No action is required by the public upon receipt of this message. This is a test message.’
Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, addressed the public’s concerns by clarifying that there was no need for panic upon receiving this message. The newly developed Disaster Communication System, a collaborative effort between the Department of Telecommunications and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), aims to provide timely, geo-targeted alerts to citizens in multiple languages. This technology is designed to overcome challenges such as network congestion, ensuring that crucial information reaches people without delay.
The cell broadcast technology utilized for this alert system allows messages to be sent simultaneously to numerous mobile users within a designated area.
