Chennai: Kauvery Hospital has launched a Mobile Mammogram Unit as part of a CSR initiative in association with the Lions Club of Chennai KVG Charitable Trust and Lions District 3241C.
The mammogram van was flagged off on 25 June 2026 by Thiru P. Venkatramanan, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Tamil Nadu.
The Mobile Mammogram Unit is equipped with digital mammography facilities and is designed to provide accessible breast cancer screening services. It will travel across residential areas, workplaces, community centres, and other locations in urban and suburban regions, enabling wider access to preventive healthcare for women.
Speaking at the launch, PMJF Lion S. Bose, District Governor 3241C, Lions International, said the initiative aims to bring screening services closer to women in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. He noted that the collaboration with Kauvery Hospital would help expand preventive healthcare outreach.
Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Kauvery Hospital, said the initiative is focused on reducing barriers to early detection and encouraging preventive health practices. He added that taking healthcare services closer to communities would help make screening a regular part of healthcare behaviour.
Kauvery Hospital stated that the mobile unit will conduct scheduled screening camps in the coming weeks, focusing on areas with limited access to early diagnostic services.
