A tea worker was injured in a leopard attack at Lokhoujan Tea Estate on Tuesday. According to reports, the incident occurred while workers were engaged in routine activities in Section No. 5 of the estate.
The injured worker, identified as Amar Sahis, was reportedly attacked from behind by a leopard. Hearing his cries, fellow workers rushed to the spot, prompting the animal to flee.
Amar Sahis sustained injuries to his back and left arm. He was initially taken to the estate hospital and later shifted to Swahid Kamala Miri Civil Hospital for further treatment. He was subsequently referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for advanced medical care.
Local sources indicate that tea estates located near forested areas, including regions bordering Karbi Anglong, have reported occasional wildlife movement. Authorities are expected to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions.
