London:
A 37-year-old man has been arrested by counter-terrorism police in connection with a series of attacks targeting Jewish-linked sites in north-west London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The suspect was detained near Barnstaple on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts and has been taken to a London police station for questioning.
Police said a total of 26 arrests have been made since late March as part of the investigation into multiple incidents, including attacks on community ambulances in Golders Green, as well as reported arson cases involving a synagogue and premises linked to a Jewish charity.
Authorities also reported other incidents, including a drone flown near the Israeli Embassy and an attempted arson attack outside the office of a Persian media organization.
Counter-terrorism officials are examining possible links to foreign-backed groups, though investigations are ongoing. So far, several individuals have been charged with arson-related offences, and one conviction has been secured. A minor has also pleaded guilty in connection with one of the incidents.
Speaking on the issue, Keir Starmer emphasized the need to address security concerns and protect the right of communities to practice their faith without fear. He stated that tackling such threats is a shared national responsibility.
