Residents Raise Concerns Over Poor Condition of S.P. Mukherjee Road in Asansol
Asansol: Residents of Ward No. 41 under the Asansol Municipal Corporation have raised concerns over the poor condition of S.P. Mukherjee Road, a key road stretch used by commuters on a daily basis.
The approximately 1-km road is used by thousands of commuters, including school students and people travelling for medical emergencies. According to local residents, the ongoing monsoon has worsened the condition of the road, with muddy and uneven stretches making movement difficult.
Residents have also expressed concern ahead of Durga Puja, as a major Durga Mandir is located along the route. They have urged the civic authorities to take up necessary repair and maintenance work at the earliest to improve safety and accessibility.
The road also serves as an important commercial route, with a major business market located in the area. Local traders and residents said the poor road condition is affecting the movement of customers, traders and other visitors.
Residents and members of the local business community have appealed to the Asansol Municipal Corporation and the concerned authorities to inspect the road and take appropriate measures before the festive season.
They said timely repair and maintenance of the road would help improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of commuters and support local businesses during the upcoming festive period.
