Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani on Thursday extended greetings to all personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF), veterans, civilians and their families on the occasion of Air Force Day. He commended the force for its operational excellence, professionalism and ability to employ air power effectively in an increasingly contested and technology-driven battlespace.

Paying tribute to the IAF’s legacy of valour and selfless service, the CDS said the force had consistently demonstrated its ability to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and security. He also highlighted its role as a dependable first responder during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in India and abroad.

General NS Raja Subramani, who also serves as Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA), said this year’s Air Force Day theme, “Indian Airforce: Infallible, Impervious and Precise,” reflected the force’s core values and ethos.

He noted that from conflict zones to humanitarian missions, the IAF had demonstrated that air power was not limited to combat but also contributed to national strength, resilience and public service.

The CDS said the IAF’s performance across various operations reflected India’s strategic capabilities and commitment to protecting its sovereignty and security. He also praised the force’s contribution to HADR operations, both within the country and overseas.

Focus on Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation

General Subramani acknowledged the IAF’s progress towards Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation (JAI). He appreciated the induction of indigenous platforms, advanced weapon systems and emerging technologies into the force.

He also highlighted the continuous evolution of operational concepts and doctrines to meet the requirements of an increasingly technology-driven battlespace.

The CDS appreciated the IAF’s participation in bilateral and multinational exercises, including Exercise Tarang Shakti, noting that such engagements help strengthen interoperability, operational preparedness and strategic partnerships.

CDS Calls on Air Warriors to Remain Steadfast

Addressing air warriors, the CDS encouraged them to remain steadfast in their commitment, resilient in the face of adversity and purposeful in every mission.

Air Force Day is observed on October 8 to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force and honour the service and sacrifices of its personnel.
