Authorities have reportedly suspended internet services for 24 hours in and around Delhi’s Jantar Mantar ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) scheduled for October 10, according to a report by NDTV.

The reported restriction covers mobile data, Wi-Fi and other internet services in the affected area. The measure comes amid heightened security arrangements intended to maintain public order and prevent the spread of inflammatory content during the planned demonstration.

Security Tightened Ahead of Demonstration

Additional police and paramilitary personnel have reportedly been deployed around Jantar Mantar. Authorities have also introduced movement restrictions and advised commuters and visitors to plan their journeys accordingly.

The planned demonstration is linked to the CJP’s demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.

Despite police reportedly denying permission for the demonstration, the party has maintained that it intends to proceed with the protest.

The reported internet suspension and security measures may affect communication and travel for people in and around Jantar Mantar. Commuters are advised to check official police and transport updates before travelling and to remain alert to further announcements regarding restrictions.

The reported suspension is expected to remain in effect for 24 hours, beginning October 9, 2026, in the affected area.
