Former Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Alla Nani Dies at 56 After Cardiac Arrest

Visakhapatnam/Eluru, September 15, 2026: Former Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, popularly known as Alla Nani, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 56 following a cardiac arrest, according to reports.

Details of the Incident

According to family sources, Alla Nani went for his regular morning walk in Visakhapatnam and returned home. He later complained of acute uneasiness and chest discomfort. While being taken to a nearby hospital by his driver, he collapsed inside the vehicle. Doctors subsequently declared him brought dead.

His mortal remains were later transported by road to his native city of Eluru, where the final rites are to be performed.

Political Career

Alla Nani began his political career with the Congress Party. After unsuccessful attempts in the 1994 and 1999 elections, he was elected from the Eluru Assembly constituency in 2004 and retained the seat in 2009.

He resigned from the Congress in 2013 and joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). After losing the 2014 Assembly election, he served as YSRCP district president and was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in 2017 under the MLA quota.

Alla Nani returned to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from Eluru in 2019. He subsequently served as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health and Medical Education in the government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Following the 2024 Assembly election, he resigned from the YSRCP in August 2024 and later joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in February 2025.

Leaders Pay Tributes

Several political leaders expressed condolences following Alla Nani's death.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the death and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and IT Minister Nara Lokesh also paid tribute to the former minister. YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed condolences to the family and supporters.

Family

Alla Nani is survived by his wife, Alla Rekha, and two sons.
