A school van carrying children met with a dramatic accident in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, on Thursday morning after the vehicle reportedly lost control, crashed through a roadside tree and fell nearly five feet onto a service lane.

The incident took place at around 7:30 am near DAV School in Vijay Nagar. The van reportedly veered off the road before breaking through the tree and dropping onto the lower service lane. The vehicle did not overturn after the fall.

Children Rescued By Locals

Following the crash, children inside the van reportedly cried for help. People nearby rushed to the spot to assist them.

A passerby who was close to the vehicle reportedly moved away as the van fell and then returned to help. He opened the van's window, allowing the children and other occupants to safely exit. Local residents also joined the rescue operation.

No Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no child, driver or other occupant was reported injured in the accident. The driver was also reported to be safe.

The van landed on the service lane without overturning, which reportedly helped prevent further injuries.

Police Investigating Cause

Vijay Nagar SHO Dharampal Singh said police are investigating how the school van lost control. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage captured the incident, showing the van crashing through the tree before falling onto the service lane. The footage has since surfaced online and gone viral.
