Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal participates in Swachhata Hi Seva campaign 2026 in New Delhi

Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal today participated in the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign 2026 at Safdarjung Tomb in New Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Meghwal said that cleanliness should not be limited to a one-day campaign, but should become a daily responsibility.

The Minister emphasised that cleanliness should begin from home and extend to offices, neighbourhoods and public places with a resolve of keeping the nation clean. He said that cleanliness has improved significantly across India since 2014, including at railway stations and public places.

He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on sanitation, who urged people to take personal responsibility for cleanliness instead of expecting others to clean up the waste they create.

Mr Meghwal also highlighted the important role of children and youth in spreading the message of cleanliness and urged citizens to take a pledge that whenever they see waste around them, they will take responsibility and help keep the area clean.

The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign will be observed from tomorrow across the country. It will continue till the 17th of October.

The theme of this year’s campaign is – Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat, which underlines the role of collective participation and shared responsibility in advancing the vision of a Swachh and Viksit Bharat.
