Mussoorie Enforcement Drive: Around 70 Vehicles Challaned, 11 Detained

Mussoorie, September 22, 2026: The Regional Transport Office (RTO), local administration and municipal authorities conducted a vehicle-checking drive in Mussoorie to address violations involving rental two-wheelers, illegal parking and vehicle documentation.

During the operation, around 70 vehicles were challaned and 11 vehicles were detained for various violations. The drive was conducted on the directions issued following a road-safety review by the district administration and was led by Pragya Pant of the RTO enforcement team.

Rental Bikes and Documentation Checked

Officials checked rental two-wheelers for compliance with prescribed rules. Action was taken in cases involving unauthorised operation of rental bikes, parking in no-parking areas, expired documents and expired vehicle fitness certificates.

Officials also found cases where rental-bike operators did not have complete documents. The transport department said recommendations would be made for suspension of licences of rental-bike operators whose documents were found incomplete or who were found renting vehicles with white number plates in violation of the applicable requirements.

Two Cases Involving Minor Riders

Two vehicles were found being driven by minors during the checking drive. Both vehicles were challaned and seized. Officials advised parents and vehicle owners not to allow minors to operate two-wheelers.

Action to Continue

Municipal and revenue officials were also present during the enforcement drive. Naib Tehsildar Upendra Rana participated in the operation along with the municipal team.

Officials said checking would continue in Mussoorie, with particular attention to rental vehicles, parking violations, valid documentation, vehicle fitness and compliance with applicable rules.
