In a commendable initiative to promote education and support academically gifted students from economically disadvantaged families, Netaji Seva Foundation extended financial assistance in the form of Higher Secondary Science textbooks to a deserving student from the remote village of Dakshin Chandanpiri under Namkhana Block.
The books were handed over to Mr. Mahadeb Laya, father of Shubhamoy Laya, who secured an outstanding 642 marks out of 700 in the Madhyamik Examination this year. Despite his excellent academic performance and aspiration to pursue higher studies in the Science stream, the family was unable to afford the required textbooks due to financial hardship.
Following an appeal made by Mr. Mahadeb Laya to the Netaji Seva Foundation, the organization promptly came forward to support the student's educational journey.
On 6 August 2026, the Foundation presented the necessary Class XI Science textbooks, including Chemistry, Physics, English, Bengali, and Computer Science, in the presence of Prof. Santanu Bera, General Secretary of Netaji Seva Foundation, and Prof. Soumitra Pandit, noted educationist and social worker. Shubhamoy is currently pursuing his Higher Secondary education in the Science stream at Rajnagar Bishwambhar Higher Secondary School, Namkhana.
Expressing gratitude, the Foundation thanked all the individuals who contributed to this noble cause. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Santanu Bera emphasized that many talented students are compelled to struggle due to financial constraints and appealed to society to come forward in supporting such students. He reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to continue working for the educational upliftment of meritorious and underprivileged students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Soumitra Pandit stated that the Foundation would further expand its social initiatives aimed at empowering students from marginalized communities through education. He also appealed to philanthropists and socially conscious individuals to join hands with the Foundation in building a brighter future for deserving students.
The initiative was widely appreciated by those present and stands as an inspiring example of how community participation can help ensure that financial hardship does not become a barrier to quality education.
