Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to activist Ashok Singhal. In an article for an English daily newspaper, PM Modi said that Ashok Singhal’s life reflected a cherished ethos: the pursuit of others’ welfare acquires far greater meaning than individual achievement.

PM Modi said that, starting from yesterday, the nation is marking the birth centenary of Ashok Singhal. The Prime Minister added that Ashok Singhal worked towards strengthening social unity and equality.

He said that Ashok Singhal was blessed with the clarity of thought that there could be no distinction of any kind in society and every individual deserved equal dignity and respect. The Prime Minister said that it was his privilege to have had innumerable opportunities to interact with Ashok Singhal.

PM Modi further urged citizens to ensure that more youngsters learn about the contributions of Ashok Singhal and also urged them to renew the pledge to realise his dreams for the nation.
