Satya Niketan Building Collapse: Student Rescued After Video Call From Debris

New Delhi, September 7, 2026: An 11-second video recorded by a student trapped beneath the debris of a collapsed paying guest (PG) building in Satya Niketan, South Delhi, has drawn attention to the rescue efforts following the incident.

The student, identified as Aditya, was trapped after the five-storey building, which was being used as a boys' PG accommodation, collapsed. A video of him beneath the debris was shared by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), helping rescuers and others identify his location.

Aditya, a second-year B.Com student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, was subsequently rescued and taken to hospital. Reports said he was kept under observation and was not in critical condition. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon and prompted a major rescue operation involving multiple emergency agencies.

Death Toll Reaches Six

The building collapse has claimed six lives, according to the latest reports. Rescue teams continued searching the debris as authorities worked to determine whether anyone else remained trapped. The casualty figure may be revised as the rescue and identification process continues.

Rescue Operations

Emergency personnel, including the NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police and other agencies, were involved in clearing the debris and searching for survivors. Students and local residents also assisted during the initial rescue efforts.
