Reasi, May 9: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi on Saturday organised the second National Lok Adalat of 2026 under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority.
The Lok Adalat was conducted under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Reasi and Principal District & Sessions Judge Reasi, Khalil Choudhary, with guidance from Secretary DLSA Reasi, Pooja Gupta. Judicial officers, members of the Bar Association, legal aid defence counsels, court staff, para legal volunteers, and litigants were present during the event.
According to an official press release, a total of 15 benches were constituted across the district to hear and settle various categories of cases, including matrimonial disputes, civil matters, criminal compoundable offences, cheque bounce cases under the NI Act, bank recovery matters, MACT cases, consumer disputes, and pre-litigation commercial matters.
During the Lok Adalat, 3,152 cases were taken up, of which 2,435 cases were amicably settled, resulting in a total settlement amount of ₹2,83,58,393.
The DLSA Reasi stated that the National Lok Adalat aims to provide speedy and amicable resolution of disputes while reducing the burden of pending court cases and promoting alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
