Pathanamthitta, May 6: Malayalam actor Santhosh Nair (63) passed away following a road accident near Enathu in Pathanamthitta district, according to reports.

The incident occurred when a lorry reportedly collided with the car in which he was travelling. Nair sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

His wife, Shubhashree, who was also in the vehicle, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment. The lorry driver was also reported injured in the incident.

Born on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvananthapuram, Santhosh Nair began his acting career with the 1982 film Ithu Njangalude Katha. Over a career spanning four decades, he appeared in more than 100 Malayalam films, taking on a wide range of roles including lead, supporting, and character performances.

His recent film Mohiniyattam is currently in theatres, and has been reported to be his last release.

Members of the Malayalam film industry have expressed condolences over his demise.
