Chennai, May 13: The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has claimed victory in a floor test held in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday. According to party sources, 144 MLAs voted in support of the motion, while 22 members opposed it and five remained neutral.
Reports also stated that members of the DMK boycotted the proceedings and staged a walkout during the voting process. The Speaker reportedly conducted an individual vote count instead of a voice vote.
TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay thanked supporters and stated that his government would work for all sections of society. Rebel AIADMK legislators who reportedly supported the motion also stated that they were not seeking ministerial positions.
However, official confirmation and complete Assembly records regarding the floor test were not immediately available at the time of publication.
