West Bengal:
As the polling date approaches, confusion has been reported among residents regarding the use of motorcycles during the 48 hours leading up to voting.
According to guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, motorcycles are not completely banned during this period. However, their use is subject to certain restrictions to ensure law and order and to facilitate free and fair elections.
Authorities have stated that activities such as bike rallies, political processions involving motorcycles, and group movements related to campaigning are strictly prohibited during the restricted period. These measures are intended to prevent unlawful gatherings and maintain a peaceful environment.
At the same time, individual use of motorcycles for personal purposes continues to be permitted. Citizens may use their vehicles for daily commuting, essential travel, emergencies, and to reach polling stations to cast their votes.
In certain sensitive areas, local administration may impose additional restrictions, such as limitations on multiple riders or specific movement controls, depending on the situation.
Officials have advised the public to rely on verified information and cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.
