Chennai, May 10: TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) chief Chandrasekhar Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu at a ceremony held at Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. Governor Rajendra Arlekar administered the oath of office to Vijay and other ministers.
According to official information, nine MLAs also took oath as members of the new cabinet. Several political leaders, party members, and invited guests attended the ceremony. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was among those present at the event.
TVK had emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections with 108 seats. The party later received support from alliance partners and supporting parties, enabling it to stake claim to form the government.
Officials stated that Governor Rajendra Arlekar has asked the new government to prove its majority on the floor of the Assembly within the stipulated time as per constitutional procedure.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted amid tight security arrangements in Chennai, with party supporters gathering at various locations across the city.
