Shillong: The Awaken India Movement (AIM), Meghalaya State Chapter, along with a group of concerned citizens, has announced a public awareness campaign to be held at 10 am on April 28 near the Meghalaya Secretariat and the High Court of Meghalaya.
According to AIM, the initiative aims to highlight challenges reportedly faced by some residents in accessing services due to Aadhaar-related issues. The organisation stated that certain individuals, particularly from economically weaker sections, have experienced difficulties in securing formal identification and accessing essential services.
AIM claims that, in some cases, individuals without Aadhaar or with Aadhaar-related discrepancies have faced hurdles in accessing services such as LPG refills, subsidized rations from fair price shops, healthcare services, educational admissions, and various government welfare schemes.
Through this campaign, the organisation intends to raise awareness and urge authorities to consider measures that ensure eligible citizens are not denied access to essential services.
Officials have not yet issued a formal response regarding the concerns raised by the group.
