On the occasion of the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar, a commemorative program was organized in Jagtial where leaders and local representatives paid floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution. The event was held at the district office of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking on the occasion, local leaders stated that Ambedkar’s ideals continue to influence discussions on social equality and justice. They noted that his contributions remain relevant in shaping public policies and social thought.
Observed annually on April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti marks the birth of Dr. Ambedkar, who was born in 1891 in Mhow (present-day Madhya Pradesh). He is widely recognized for his role in drafting the Constitution of India and for his efforts toward addressing social inequalities.
Contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar:
- Served as Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution
- Advocated against caste discrimination and untouchability
- Founded the Bahishkrit Hitakarini Sabha for social upliftment
- Pursued higher education at Columbia University and the London School of Economics
- Served as the first Law Minister of independent India
- Awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1990
During the event, leaders garlanded Ambedkar’s portrait and paid tributes. Several district-level representatives, party members, and local participants were present at the program.
