Anantnag Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Drive, Trains Investigating Officers in NDPS Cases

Anantnag, May 4: Under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukti Abhiyan in Jammu and Kashmir, Anantnag Police has intensified its campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.

As part of the drive, multiple cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against alleged drug peddlers across various areas. Police officials reported that several suspects were arrested and significant quantities of contraband were seized during the operations.

To strengthen investigation quality and improve conviction rates, the police also conducted a five-day specialised training programme for Investigating Officers (IOs). The training focused on legal procedures, scientific evidence collection, documentation standards, and best practices under the NDPS Act.

Senior officers and subject experts led the sessions, providing practical insights and guidance. The initiative aims to enhance investigative capabilities and ensure that cases are handled in a legally sound and transparent manner.
