Date-of-Birth Manipulation Case: EOW Kashmir Conducts Searches at Office, Residence of Deputy CMO Shopian

Srinagar, June 13:The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch J&K on Saturday conducted searches in Shopian and Pulwama districts in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged date-of-birth manipulation case aimed at securing undue service benefits.

According to officials, the searches were carried out following the registration of an FIR under relevant sections of law pertaining to the alleged fraudulent insertion and alteration of date-of-birth entries in official service records.

As part of the investigation, teams of the EOW searched the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Shopian, besides conducting a search at his residence located in Thamuna area of Pulwama district. The operation was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.

Officials said that documents and other materials linked to the case are being scrutinised to ascertain the extent of the alleged irregularities and identify those involved.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch urged members of the public to remain vigilant against economic offences and report any instances of fraud to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir.

Victims of economic fraud can also lodge complaints through the official email address of the EOW: sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
