Former BJP MLA Arrested for Alleged Links to Ankita Bhandari Murder Case

In a significant turn of events, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Suresh Rathore has been taken into custody in Uttarakhand, accused of making statements that allegedly connect a prominent party leader with the high-profile murder of Ankita Bhandari in 2022. On Monday, local police confirmed Rathore’s arrest, stating that he was detained at his office in Buggawala, Haridwar, before being transported to the Dalanwala police station in Dehradun for formal proceedings.

The Ankita Bhandari case has captured nationwide attention since it emerged. Bhandari, a receptionist at a resort in Rishikesh owned by Pulkit Arya, the son of former BJP leader Vinod Arya, went missing on September 18, 2022. Her disappearance triggered an urgent search, with Pulkit Arya, alongside the resort’s manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta, filing a missing person report the following day. However, their initial claims unraveled when they later confessed to murdering Bhandari after a dispute, admitting to pushing her into a canal.

Bhandari’s body was discovered six days later in the Chilla Canal, raising questions and igniting a scandal that led to the BJP expelling Vinod Arya and his other son, Ankit Arya, from the party. As investigations unfolded, disturbing evidence surfaced, including WhatsApp messages from Bhandari suggesting that the trio had attempted to coerce her into engaging in prostitution. Reports indicated that her murder may have been linked to her refusal to provide “special services” to a “VIP.”

Rathore’s arrest follows the circulation of audio and video clips that allegedly contain his assertions regarding the involvement of another BJP leader in the case. This development adds another layer of complexity to an already convoluted narrative, highlighting the deep-seated issues within political circles and the implications of power dynamics in criminal cases. With Rathore now facing legal scrutiny, the investigation into Bhandari’s death continues to unfold, raising critical questions about accountability and justice in cases of violence against women.

The incident has also reignited discussions about the safety of women in India and the political machinations often observed in such high-profile cases. As the public awaits further details, many are calling for a transparent investigation that ensures justice for Ankita Bhandari and sheds light on the darker corners of political influence.
