Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan Defeated For The Seventh Consecutive Time
Chennai, May 5, IPU Media Update News: Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan faced defeat in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections while contesting from the Mylapore constituency as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. She was defeated by TVK candidate P. Venkataramanan.
Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is well known in Telangana and Tamil Nadu politics, has now faced multiple electoral setbacks in her political career. This election also did not result in a win for her.
She contested from the Mylapore Assembly constituency and carried out an extensive campaign. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also campaigned in support of her during the election period. Despite her efforts, the final results did not go in her favour.
In the Mylapore constituency, the TVK candidate secured victory, while DMK finished in second position. Tamilisai Soundararajan was placed third in the constituency.
Over the years, she has contested in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on multiple occasions but has not secured a seat so far. Her past contests include elections in 2006 (Radhapuram), 2009 (Chennai North Lok Sabha), 2011 (Velachery), 2016 (Virugambakkam), 2019 (Thoothukudi Lok Sabha), and 2024 (Chennai South Lok Sabha).
The latest result adds to her electoral record, and her future political course will be closely watched in the coming period.
