The foundation for a Google data center in Visakhapatnam was highlighted as a significant development in India’s digital infrastructure growth, according to Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh. He made these remarks while attending the “Bharat AI Shakti” summit organized by Google at a venue in the city.
Speaking at the event, the minister stated that the investment could contribute to the state’s technology ecosystem and enhance Visakhapatnam’s role in the digital economy. He noted that the city has historically served as an important gateway connecting industrial and commercial activities with global markets.
Lokesh also pointed out that the global economy is increasingly moving toward digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence. In this context, he said Visakhapatnam has the potential to emerge as a technology and innovation hub, supported by developments such as the proposed data center and AI-related initiatives.
He further referred to ongoing industrial developments in the region, including projects associated with major companies in steel and other sectors, along with growth in areas such as data, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.
According to the minister, the state government is aiming to accelerate development in the technology sector over the coming years through infrastructure investments and policy support.
