Government Officials Visit Master Weaver to Discuss Handloom Sector Challenge

Government officials recently visited handloom saree manufacturer M. C. Narasimhulu as part of an initiative to understand the challenges faced by artisans and gather feedback on measures that could support the handloom sector.

During the interaction, officials discussed issues affecting handloom weavers, including rising raw material costs, shortages of skilled workers, limited market access, changing consumer demand, and competition from machine-made and powerloom products. Narasimhulu shared his experiences and observations regarding the impact of these challenges on traditional weaving communities.

Officials stated that the concerns and suggestions raised during the discussion would be taken into consideration while reviewing policies and welfare initiatives related to the handloom sector. They also highlighted the importance of supporting artisans and preserving traditional weaving practices.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to engage with stakeholders in the handloom industry and better understand the issues affecting its sustainability and development.
