Raipur, June 27, IPU Media Update News : The Jashpur district police in Chhattisgarh have set a world record. They earned a spot in the ‘Golden Book of World Records’ by organizing ‘Jan Chaupals’ (public awareness meetings) across all 766 villages in the district on a single day. This helmet awareness campaign aimed at reducing road accident fatalities and educating the public on traffic rules has garnered global recognition. Sonal Rajesh Sharma, the State President of the ‘Golden Book of World Records,’ presented the certificate to SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh during a ceremony held at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Jashpur.

The ‘Jan Chaupals’ were conducted simultaneously across all 766 villages in the district between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on June 24, 2026. During these sessions, the public was informed about the benefits of wearing helmets, the importance of seat belts, accident prevention, and traffic regulations. This initiative secured the world record for the Jashpur police. The program was launched under the leadership of the DIG and SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh in response to the rising number of road accidents in the district. It was stated that the objective is not merely to impose fines, but to foster a sense of responsibility regarding road safety among the public. Through this initiative, awareness is being raised about the importance of helmet use for both two-wheeler riders and pillion riders, the use of seat belts by four-wheeler drivers, and the dangers associated with drunk driving.
