*J&K Judicial Academy Holds Orientation on New Criminal Laws in Jammu*

*Experts Stress Coordination, Continuous Learning for Effective Criminal Justice Delivery*

Jammu, Apr 26 (KNC): The Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Academy on Saturday organised a one-day orientation programme on “Criminal Justice Administration with special reference to New Criminal Laws” at Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground Jammu, bringing together judicial officers, legal experts and stakeholders to deliberate on recent legal reforms.

The programme was held under the patronage of Chief Justice Arun Palli, with guidance from the Governing Committee of the Academy, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner—KNC.

Justice Rajnesh Oswal, in his inaugural address, highlighted the evolving nature of law and stressed the need for continuous modernization of the criminal justice system. Referring to newly enacted laws including Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), he said these legislations are aligned with present-day realities, particularly in the context of digital and technological advancements.

Justice Rahul Bharti, while addressing the gathering, underlined that the criminal justice system is a collective responsibility involving police, prosecution and judiciary. He emphasized the need to overcome systemic inefficiencies and adopt a more coordinated and progressive approach for effective implementation of new laws.

Director J&K Judicial Academy, Naseer Ahmad Dar, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of such programmes in enhancing understanding of new legal frameworks among stakeholders.

The programme featured three technical sessions led by Senior Advocate Sakal Bhushan, who deliberated on key aspects of the new criminal laws, including procedural reforms, evidentiary changes and the role of digital technology. The sessions also covered pre-trial processes, trial procedures and comparative analysis of old and new legal provisions.

Judicial officers, prosecutors, police officials, legal aid counsels and law students from across Jammu province participated in the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Director of the Academy.
