Hailakandi, May 13:

Thaugan Marup Jaffirbond organised a felicitation ceremony on May 13 to honour meritorious Manipuri medium students of Hailakandi district who performed well in the recent HSLC and HS examinations. The event was held at Yaifa Sanglen in Leishramkhun.

The programme was presided over by Nepram Manindro Singha, President of Thaugan Marup. Several dignitaries attended the event, including Kangam Ongbi Leishram Amutombi, Principal of Sanarei Meitei Higher Secondary School; Chongtham Babuton Singha, President of Jaribond Sports Academy; Meitram Bijen, Member of the World Meitei Council; Haubam Manisana, President of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Hailakandi District; and Prosenjit Singha, President of AAMSU Hailakandi District.

During the event, Lourembam Joykanata, Assistant Secretary of Thaugan Marup Jaffirbond, delivered the welcome address. Selected students were felicitated with traditional lenjal phi scarves and certificates in recognition of their academic achievements.

Dr. Sonali Singha, who was recently awarded a Ph.D. in Manipuri from Assam University, was also felicitated during the programme. She completed her research under the guidance of Professor H. Noni Kumar Singh. Dr. Sonali currently serves as a PGT (Manipuri) at Baskandi N.M.H.S. School.

Guest speakers shared guidance and motivational messages for students regarding education and future career opportunities. Retired Headmaster Oja Hijam Bichindro Singha and Konjham Surajit Singha, Principal of Indramani Public High School, spoke on the importance of academic dedication and career planning.

In his address, Nepram Manindro Singha appealed to the public to support the development of Manipuri medium education and congratulated the successful students on their achievements.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Moirengjam Chinglen, Secretary of Thaugan Marup.
