Hyderabad, May 14, IPU Media Update News : Bhagirath Sai, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, is facing investigation in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad.
According to police sources, the case was registered on May 8, 2026, following a complaint filed by the mother of a minor girl. Based on the complaint and subsequent statements recorded during the investigation, police reportedly added relevant sections of the POCSO Act, including provisions related to aggravated offences.
Bhagirath Sai has denied the allegations and alleged that the complaint was part of an extortion attempt. He has also filed a counter-complaint in Karimnagar, accusing the complainant’s family of blackmail and threats. Police have reportedly registered a separate case based on his complaint.
As per legal sources, Bhagirath Sai approached the Telangana High Court seeking anticipatory bail. In his petition, he reportedly stated that the relationship was consensual and also questioned the age-related claims mentioned in the complaint. The matter was scheduled for hearing on May 14.
Meanwhile, Telangana Police constituted a special investigation team led by Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj to examine the case. Officials reportedly summoned Bhagirath Sai for questioning on May 13, but he did not appear before investigators.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly directed officials to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on evidence collected during the probe.
