A horrific incident at the Bantwal KSRTC bus stand in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district has sent shockwaves across the state after a 21-year-old nurse was allegedly murdered by a man accused of stalking her. The victim, Lavanya, worked as a nurse at a private clinic in Kalladka. According to police, she had finished work and was waiting to travel home from the BC Road KSRTC bus stand on the evening of July 16. As she boarded a bus bound for Kakyapadavu, the accused, identified as Chetan, allegedly followed her onto the bus while carrying a sword hidden inside a bag.
Police said Lavanya noticed the weapon and immediately sensed danger. She got off the bus in an attempt to escape and ran through the crowded bus stand, hoping to find safety among the commuters. However, the accused allegedly chased her before attacking her with the weapon in broad daylight.
The violent assault took place in front of dozens of shocked passengers and bystanders. Despite attempts by members of the public to help, the attacker fled the scene soon after the assault.
Lavanya was rushed to the Bantwal Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her tragic death has left family members, friends, and the local community devastated.
