Andhra Pradesh Housing Programme: 3 Lakh Houses Approved Under PMAY-G 2.0
Andhra Pradesh Gets 3 Lakh Houses Worth ₹3,600 Crore Under PMAY-G 2.0
Andhra Pradesh
The Centre has sanctioned three lakh houses worth ₹3,600 crore for Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0. Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the first instalment for the housing allocation to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at an event in Burripalem village in Guntur district on October 4, 2026.
The initiative aims to expand access to permanent housing for eligible rural families and strengthen housing support in the state.
What Is the Housing Programme?
PMAY-G is a central government scheme designed to support eligible rural households in obtaining permanent houses. The latest allocation provides for three lakh houses in Andhra Pradesh, with a total stated value of ₹3,600 crore.
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the allocation was increased from an initial proposal of around 76,000 houses following a request for additional housing support for the state.
What Could It Mean for Families?
Access to a permanent house can provide eligible households with greater security, protection from adverse weather and improved living conditions. The housing programme is intended to help address rural housing needs, subject to the scheme's eligibility rules and implementation process.
Construction activity may also create demand for building materials and services, potentially supporting local workers, suppliers and other businesses. The scale of these effects will depend on the pace and execution of construction.
Who Can Benefit?
The allocation is intended for eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-G 2.0. It does not mean that every family in Andhra Pradesh will automatically receive a house. Selection and assistance remain subject to the scheme's eligibility criteria, official beneficiary records and applicable procedures.
Families should contact their local Gram Panchayat or the relevant rural development authorities to verify their eligibility and check official beneficiary information. They should rely on government notifications for details about the implementation process.
3D-Printed Housing Pilot Project
During the same event, the Union Minister and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a pilot project involving 177 houses using 3D concrete-printing technology. The project has an estimated cost of ₹14 crore and is expected to demonstrate the potential use of new construction methods in housing.
Conclusion
The allocation of three lakh houses worth ₹3,600 crore under PMAY-G 2.0 marks a significant expansion of rural housing support in Andhra Pradesh. The actual benefits for families will depend on beneficiary eligibility, construction progress and effective implementation. Residents should consult official government channels for verified information about housing assistance.
