In whose interest was the transfer order of 65 Panchayat Executive Officers of Jajpur district postponed? If it was supposed to be postponed, why was it transferred ? Will the District Collector answe
The transfer order of 65 Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) of Jajpur district was issued on July 17. Four days later, on July 21, the Jajpur district administration kept the transfer order in abeyance until further orders, as per the official office order. The decision has drawn attention across the district, with many residents expressing curiosity over the sudden suspension of the transfer process and seeking greater clarity regarding the reasons behind the decision. However, no official explanation for the suspension has been issued so far.
For the Panchayati Raj Department:
- PEOs/GPEOs (Panchayat Executive Officers) are State Government employees under the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department.
- They are governed by the general Group-C transfer guidelines, under which an employee may serve a maximum of three years in one Gram Panchayat/Block office and up to six years within the same Block.
- In May 2026, the Revenue Department also directed the rotation of field-level staff who had completed more than three years at the same place of posting, with Collectors instructed to submit action-taken reports. Similar transfer guidelines are followed in the Panchayati Raj Department to promote administrative rotation and transparency.
