Noida Witnesses Large Workers’ Protest, Traffic Disruptions Reported

Noida | April 13, 2026 (Monday)

Parts of Noida and Greater Noida witnessed large-scale workers’ protests on Monday, with demands for wage revision leading to traffic disruptions and heavy police deployment in several industrial areas.

 Protest Over Wage Demands

A significant number of contractual workers, reportedly from industrial zones including Phase 2 Hosiery Complex and nearby manufacturing units, gathered to demand better wages and improved working conditions.

The workers are seeking a minimum wage revision, citing differences in pay structures across neighboring industrial regions. Protesters stated that wage parity and job security remain their primary concerns.

 Traffic Disruptions in Key Areas

Due to the large gatherings, vehicular movement was affected in several parts of Noida, including:

  • Industrial sectors in Phase 2
  • Sector 60 and surrounding areas
  • Connecting routes toward major highways

Commuters experienced delays as police regulated traffic movement to prevent congestion.

 Security Deployment and Monitoring

Police teams were deployed across sensitive locations to maintain law and order. Officials stated that the situation is under control and are monitoring developments closely.

Authorities also engaged with representatives of workers to understand their demands and prevent further escalation.

 Situation Under Review

While the protest caused temporary disruption in routine activities, officials have confirmed that efforts are underway to restore normalcy.

Any reports of damage or isolated clashes are being verified by authorities, and no official confirmation has been issued regarding violence or arson-related incidents.

 Wider Concerns

The protest highlights ongoing discussions around:

  • Wage disparities in industrial sectors
  • Working conditions of contractual employees
  • Need for structured dialogue between workers and management
