Pathankot Police Arrest Man Allegedly Sharing CCTV Footage Of Military Vehicle Movement

Pathankot | May 22

Punjab Police have arrested an individual in connection with an alleged case involving the transmission of CCTV footage showing movement of military and paramilitary vehicles along the Pathankot-Jammu National Highway (NH-44). Police said the footage was allegedly shared with handlers based outside India.

According to police officials, the accused has been identified as Baljit Singh alias Bittu, a resident of Chak Dhariwal village in Pathankot district. Investigators alleged that he had installed an internet-enabled CCTV camera at a roadside shop near Sujanpur earlier this year.

Police stated that the CCTV setup was allegedly used to monitor movement of Indian Army and paramilitary vehicles on the highway. Authorities have seized a Wi-Fi router and CCTV equipment from the accused.

Officials further said that the accused allegedly acted on instructions received from an unidentified individual based in Dubai and was reportedly paid ₹40,000 for the installation and operation of the surveillance system.

Police have also registered a case against three other individuals — Vikramjit Singh, Balwinder Singh, and Taranpreet Singh — in connection with the investigation. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend them.

Daljinder Singh Dhillon, who recently assumed charge as SSP Pathankot, stated that the matter is being investigated from multiple angles, including possible links to cross-border information sharing.

Authorities said further investigation is ongoing.
