In a crackdown on illegal activities, the Yerwada Police in Pune have busted an alleged prostitution racket that was reportedly operating under the cover of a spa in the Kalyani Nagar area.
The raid was carried out on March 31 at a massage centre after police received specific intelligence inputs about suspicious activities at the premises. Acting on the information, officials conducted a search operation and found that the establishment was allegedly being used for unlawful purposes, according to police sources.
Police officials stated that individuals involved in the operation had reportedly lured women with promises of financial assistance and employment opportunities. It is further alleged that some of them were later coerced into illegal activities. During the raid, authorities rescued one woman, who has since been provided with necessary support and assistance.
The police have arrested the accused persons allegedly involved in running the operation. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Officials said that further investigation is underway to identify any additional victims and examine possible links to a wider network.
Authorities added that such enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain public safety in the city. Citizens have also been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
