Road Safety or fine collection

💔 How many more lives do we have to lose before road safety becomes about saving lives instead of collecting fines? 💔
The recent heartbreaking tragedy in Jharsuguda, where we lost our brave heroes from the Odisha Police Department, shook our entire society. We wept, we expressed outrage, and we demanded change. But it seems all our grief and concerns have fallen on deaf ears.
While fatal accidents continue to rise across Odisha, look at what the concerned department is actually prioritizing:
❌ The Reality Check: Instead of deploying resources at high-risk, accident-prone blackspots, speed interceptors are frequently hidden at random stretches on National and State Highways where speed limits are dropped unusually low. It feels less like a safety initiative and more like a trap.
❌ The Double Standard: If authorities can install massive, unmissable billboards kilometers before a toll gate to collect money, why can’t they install proper, clearly visible speed-limit warnings where drivers actually need to slow down?
Right now, the lack of visible signage makes this feel like daylight looting of the general public rather than a genuine effort to prevent accidents.
📢 Our Appeal to the Government of Odisha:
We demand a complete waiver of speeding penalties until proper, highly visible speed-limit signs and warning boards are installed across all highways.
Let’s shift the focus back to where it belongs: Safety, not revenue.
