📰 RTC Strike Resolved in Three Days Through Talks: Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar

Jagtial, April 25:
State Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar stated that the recent RTC employees’ strike was resolved within three days through dialogue under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, unlike the previous administration where employees were allegedly threatened instead of being invited for discussions.

He made these remarks while attending the oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed Jagtial Agricultural Market Committee Chairman, Vice Chairman, and members held at Ponnala Gardens in Jagtial on Saturday.

The Minister said that the Chief Minister had given clear instructions to resolve the RTC employees’ issues without causing inconvenience to the public or workers. Following these directions, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Vivek, along with himself, held discussions with 24 RTC employees’ unions and successfully resolved the matter.

He alleged that during the previous BRS regime, RTC employees who went on strike for nearly 52 days were not even invited for talks, and were instead threatened with dismissal by the then Chief Minister. In contrast, the present “people’s government” resolved the issue swiftly through negotiations and restored public transport services.

Referring to the unfortunate demise of RTC employee Shankar Goud, the Minister expressed condolences and termed the incident deeply painful.

Speaking on governance, he said the Revanth Reddy-led government is committed to welfare despite financial burdens caused by previous debts, stating that nearly ₹6,000 crore is being paid every month as interest on loans. He added that welfare schemes are being implemented as promised.

On agricultural issues, the Minister said that paddy procurement is being carried out without deductions or irregularities, and special maize procurement centers have been set up in Jagtial district with a support price of ₹2,400 per quintal.

He also informed that issues raised in Jagtial district were discussed in the cabinet and that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is likely to visit the district between May 20 and the first week of June.

Meanwhile, newly elected Market Committee Chairman Gaddam Narayana Reddy received congratulatory wishes from former Municipal Chairperson Aduvala Jyothi Lakshman. She felicitated him at the event and expressed confidence that the committee would achieve further development under his leadership.

RTC Joint Action Committee leaders also expressed gratitude to the Congress government, stating that justice was delivered to employees under its rule and assured continued support to the government.
