India is witnessing an important phase of democratic exercise as voting is being held in two major states—Tamil Nadu and West Bengal—under the Assembly Elections 2026 schedule.

In Tamil Nadu, polling is being conducted across all 234 Assembly constituencies, while in West Bengal, voting is underway in the first phase covering 152 seats. The elections are being closely watched due to their political significance at both state and national levels.

In Tamil Nadu, the main contest is between the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, and the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), along with its alliance partners. The DMK is highlighting welfare schemes and governance initiatives, while the opposition is focusing on anti-incumbency issues and development concerns.

In West Bengal, the contest is primarily between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The TMC is campaigning on welfare policies and grassroots outreach, while the BJP is emphasizing governance change and development-oriented messaging.

 Voter Participation & Arrangements

Authorities have made extensive security arrangements to ensure peaceful polling. Central and state security forces have been deployed at sensitive locations, and monitoring mechanisms have been strengthened.
