Five Members Elected Unanimously – Strengthens Ruling Panel
Karimnagar Municipal Corporation witnessed a decisive political outcome as the Bharatiya Janata Party secured a complete sweep in the co-option member elections held on Saturday. The special council meeting, chaired by the Mayor, concluded peacefully with all five co-option seats being won by BJP-backed candidates.
The election saw strong support from BJP corporators along with backing from three BRS members, resulting in a total of 37 votes in favour of the winning candidates. The elected co-option members are Kanna Krishna, Chigiri Venkamma, Elagandula Nandakumar, and from the minority quota Balbir Singh and Afiza Begum.
Mayor Kolagani Srinivas administered the oath to the newly elected members and formally handed over the election certificates. He congratulated the winners and stated that the co-option members would play a crucial role in the development of the city.
He further noted that the outcome reflects the growing strength of the BJP in the municipal body. He credited the leadership of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar for strengthening the party’s position in Karimnagar and reaffirmed the commitment to overall urban development.
Deputy Mayor Y. Sunil Rao, corporators, and municipal officials were present at the event.
